Hans Beat Wieland (Swiss, 1867-1945), Wintermorgen. Oil on canvas, 50 x 60 cm.
Just home from the opening reception for The New Romantics at Eyebeam, curated by the wonderful Claudia Hart. A lot of great work, including the print Aunt Lizzie (2012) by Katie Torn. Not to be missed.

that moment when you’ve finished someone’s artist statement and you end up wanting to throw tables. some artist statements really help you see the full scope of bullshit more clearly. you start to see the holes in the artist’s logic. or like when you realize, after reading, that some artists need to take a basic class in intersectionality that’s more than just looking up at a few tumblogs for information. i don’t believe in heaven or hell, but i do believe in this statement and i will keep saying it until some peeps get it: the road to hell is paved with good intentions.
